Haulage, Lifting & Storage specialists awarded UK-Leading Health & Safety Accreditation.

Sussex Transport are a family-run business that supply a range of road haulage, contract lifting, warehousing and logistics services to help clients overcome transport and logistics challenges. Established in 1990, over the years they have developed an excellent reputation for delivering a professional 360-degree service on road, air, sea transport, warehousing, pick & pack and fulfilment services.

Sussex Transport Demonstrate their Commitment to Health & Safety with 15 years of SafeContractor Accreditation.

“Sussex Transport is a British born and based family run Road Haulage and Warehousing organisation run by four brothers. Our commitment as a company to high performance and compliance mean that Sussex Transport work with a great mix of customers and partners, including Government, Local Authorities and a collection of the world’s largest brands. Delivering exceptional customer service, communication and attention to detail that gets the job done whilst ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and our clients is imperative to our businesses continued success.”

“Sussex Transport first achieved Safecontractor accreditation in 2005, and we are delighted to have subsequently retained this accreditation annually for 15 years with support from the SafeContractor team. We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of everyone who works for the Company and of everyone who may be affected by the Company’s work activities, including visitors, clients, contractors and the general public.” commented Nicholas Pulford, Operations Director at Sussex Transport.

SafeContractor, the UK’s leading health and safety accreditation, verifies an organisation’s health and safety compliance and connects contractors to leading organisations through an online portal. This showcases their profile to hundreds of companies that only work with our 33,000 SafeContractor members, saves time and money when bidding on new tenders and gives them the peace of mind that their health and safety practices are compliant with the law.

Gemma Archibald, Managing Director of Alcumus SafeContractor, says: "No-one goes to work to get injured. Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.

“SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process. During the current economic impact of COVID-19 it’s more important than ever that contractors enhance their reputation and win work by continuing to demonstrate their commitment to delivering the highest standards of health and safety compliance.”

How Sussex Transport safely returned to work.

Following the Coronavirus pandemic and its economic disruption, Sussex Transport adopted new COVID-19 secure working practices to ensure they operate usual services wherever possible. From implementing social distancing wherever possible, deep cleaning regimes and hand sanitiser stations, Sussex Transport have taken significant steps to prioritise the safety of staff, industry and local community by introducing new working practices to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

Sian Panton, General Manager said: “We would like to reassure all our customers that we are committed to doing everything we can to ensure minimal disruption to our services during the current Coronavirus pandemic. Whilst we are aware that disruption is likely across our industry, we are working to ensure we have the necessary plans and procedures in place to ensure our operations can continue to run smoothly in the event of reduced staff levels.

Having a mixture of remote working and multi-skilled team members means that we can safely cover numerous roles within the business. We are continually ensuring that all our drivers are sufficiently aware and have the necessary equipment to maintain a high standard of hygiene to maximise the safety of all.  We will continually monitor any changes to advice and update them accordingly.”
