What documents do I need to gain SSIP accreditation?

Gaining SSIP accreditation shows you have the necessary documents in place to work safely. But what documents are looked at? It depends on your business and work activities.

However, there are a set of core criteria all SSIP member schemes will check you for.

This list of documents has been worked on with the HSE to make sure you’re meeting the necessary health and safety standards.

The core requirements cover

  • Health and safety policy
  • Risk assessments and method statements
  • Access to competent advice
  • Insurances
  • Evidence of training
  • Trade qualifications
  • Any health and safety infringements

Beyond this, the questions you’ll be asked will depend on the work you undertake.

At SafeContractor we tailor our audit to your business, asking for specific documentation for your main work categories.

This means you’re only asked to provide documents related to the work you undertake, but also clients will know you’re safe to do those specific works.

For example, a 4-employee business conducting security work will need to provide*:

  • SIA Licences
  • Risk assessment specific to the deep cleaning work undertaken
  • Health & Safety policy
  • Liability insurance
  • Training evidence
  • Trade qualifications
  • Health & Safety representative
  • Declaration of any H&S infringements

Your TSO and auditor will work with you to make sure you understand what documents you’ll need to complete your questionnaire.
