Five years of SafeContractor accreditation places Phoenix Surfacing a cut above the competition

Learn More About Phoenix Surfacing

Phoenix Surfacing renew their SafeContractor accreditation for a fifth year, demonstrating their commitment to health, safety and environmental matters to their supply chain.

Phoenix Surfacing is a leading independent, multi-disciplined surfacing contractor with over 25 years’ experience in designing and delivering highways and infrastructure projects in the Midlands and South East England.

Phoenix Surfacing celebrate five years of SafeContractor accreditation

“We pride ourselves on taking great care of the environment and the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, our clients and the public. We promote a culture of speaking up to promote wellbeing and identify risks to keep our people safe by ensuring that we listen to all comments and investigate all incidents. We have an ongoing drive to do everything in our power to reduce all health and safety risks by stopping accidents before they happen.” commented Tom Greasley, Commercial Director at Phoenix Surfacing.

“As a company that takes health and safety so seriously, we are proud to hold several accreditations including SafeContractor, which showcases our commitment to maintaining health and safety excellence in the workplace. Throughout the years we have really seen the added value from having the SafeContractor accreditation. Often finding that when applying for various tenders we are a cut above other competitors as potential clients are able to immediately recognise our commitment to health and safety” continued Tom.

SafeContractor, the UK’s leading health and safety accreditation, verifies an organisation’s health and safety compliance and connects contractors to leading organisations through an online portal. This showcases their profile to hundreds of companies that only work with our 33,000 SafeContractor members, saves time and money when bidding on new tenders and gives them the peace of mind that their health and safety practices are complaint with the law.

Gemma Archibald, Managing Director of Alcumus SafeContractor, said: “No-one goes to work to get injured. Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.”

“SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process. During the current economic impact of COVID-19 its more important than ever that contractors enhance their reputation and win work by continuing to demonstrate their commitment to delivering the highest standards of health and safety compliance.”

How Phoenix Surfacing are safely returning to work

Commenting on the current climate surrounding COVID-19, Tom Greasley said “Phoenix Surfacing have been working really hard following the governments guidelines to ensure the safety of our workforce. We have put in various additional measures to keep our staff safe and also enable us to keep the nations road networks open. Extra cleaning is being carried out and additional PPE is being used, along with our staff traveling individually to each work site.”

“The current global pandemic has changed the way we work, encouraging positive adaptations such as further minimising paper consumption by working remotely where possible. Whilst there is a great deal of worry with COVID-19 risks surrounding everyone we can take away a small comfort knowing that our workforce is experiencing less risk regarding road traffic whilst working next to the highways. We appreciate everyone for staying home to keep everyone safe as requested, this is vital in more ways than one.”
