Wincanton selected Alcumus SafeContractor as its health and safety partner, to assess and ensure legal compliance for contractors. It was the first third-party logistics company (3PL) to fully roll out the accreditation scheme across its contractor base.

SafeContractor is regarded as one of the UK’s leading health and safety accreditation schemes, with over 33,000 contractors and more than 400 clients.

Alcumus will work directly with Wincanton’s contractors to provide training and guidance, as well as support through the accreditation process.

Dean Clamp, Group Health & Safety Director at Wincanton, said:

"We are a safety-first business – and this applies to our employees, our customers and to members of the public that we come in to contact with.”

"As part of this commitment, we are the first 3PL to fully adopt SafeContractor across the board to assess and accredit our preferred suppliers, ensuring compliance through our supply chain."

Gemma Archibald, Managing Director for Alcumus SafeContractor, said:

"At SafeContractor, our team goes above and beyond to ensure we provide the best service possible for our customers."

"We are delighted to be supporting Wincanton with their safety-first mission and to help them become safer, healthier and stronger."

“SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, and the need to leverage supplier capabilities in this manner is increasingly recognised as a key driver of competitive advantage.”
