At Alcumus SafeContractor Insurance Service, we understand it is important to make sure that you and your company have adequate cover in place. Damage caused to a client's property arising from defective workmanship, faulty products or design error provided by you could put a financial strain on your business. It is important you have the right cover in place to protect yourself in case these events were to happen.
Whilst installing air conditioning systems, accidents can happen. This could be a fault in the design you have given, poor wiring or improper draining of the aircon system before installing, leading to clients suffering an illness or accident due to your negligence. All risks must be thought of and covered to protect your business should an incident occur.

Does your insurance cover the following?
No matter how careful you are, accidents do happen and public liability claims can be made against anyone. In the unlikely event an incident occurs whilst working in a third-party property, such as an escape of water, then our public liabilty policy will pay for damages awarded and/or repairs to the damaged property.
You are legally required to arrange employers liability cover when you are an employer. If one of your employees were to fall off a ladder whilst working at height fixing an aircon unit during their employment, and this event was a result of your negligence, then our policy will protect your business from compensation claims of up to £10 million as standard.
Products that you manufacture or sell may be very well designed but faults can still occur. This could be a fault in the aircon unit causing the system to explode, start a fire or create a flood, causing damage to a third-party property or personal injuries. Although damage caused by a poorly manufactured product is not necessarily your fault, our insurance policy will pay the claim and recover the loss from the manufacturer to give you peace of mind.
Air conditioning units can become a hazard if not maintained or fitted correctly, leading to serious health hazards from the air that circulates the room. If you have designed a system that causes poor water drainage that leads to a threat of legionella, or have advised a certain design for an industrial building that is not at the right standard, professional indemity will cover you for compensation claims and legal fees due to negligence in your work.
For a great number of businesses, work tools are crucial to daily activities. If your business is one of these, you will understand how much tools cost and the impact of them being lost or stolen. Many people spend years investing large amounts of money in buying the tools that they need, so replacing them all at once could be financially devastating. Making sure you have your tools covered will allow you to get back to work without the financial worry.
If you're working on a project and your work is damaged or destroyed as a result of insurable events such as fire, floods, storms, vandalism or theft, then this policy can pay for the cost of repairing or redoing the work that you have already done. This includes the cost of labour, materials and tools needed to get the work back to the stage it was at before it was damaged.
Having legal expenses insurance provides protection against costs that could arise from legal action placed against your company. Costs can arise from becoming involved in a civil claim disputre with an employee or client for damage to a property, or in the event an accident injures someone and your company is taken to court.
Directors and officers
Directors and key managers (officers) can make mistakes and are often personally legally liable for them. The core purpose of a D&O policy is to provide financial protection for directors or key managers against legal costs and compensation. Claims can be made against directors and officers as a result of actual or alleged 'wrongful acts', such as breach of trust, neglect, or making errors and misleading statements when acting for their company. This policy will protect their personal assets should this go to court.
Work with heat equipment
If you're using heat equipment in your day to day activities, or even if it's just on certain jobs, it's important that you notify your insurance advisor so it's covered. Your SafeContractor Insurance Advisor will make you aware of any heat conditions that you must adhere to when using heat. Heat damage is one of the most frequent insurance claims that we come across, so it's important to have it included on your policy if you use heat.
Flexible height limits
Naturally, when installing aircon units you will be working at heigh. It's important that you specifiy to your SafeContractor Insurance Advisor the maximum height being working at so you can be covered correctly. If your policy has height restrictions and you are working above those limits, an incident could occur leading to a claim which the policy is unlikely to pay out for unless this is carefully covered on your package.
